The SG-Mini-5A is specifically designed for installation inside existing ceiling cassette and wall-mounted split air-conditioning systems.

Filtration and ionisation perform different functions. HEPA filtration is highly effective at capturing airborne particles that pass through the filter. Bipolar ionisation provides an active supplemental treatment approach by introducing charged ions into the air stream or occupied space.

Portable DUO and AirPro-MAX models are not UL 2998 certified and should be used according to their specific operating instructions. We don’t recommend leaving a DUO or AirPro-MAX in an occupied guest room, because of the ion smell and the risk of the unit walking our with a guest.

HEPA filtration and bipolar ionisation work differently. HEPA filters capture airborne particles as air passes through the filter, but they are not primarily designed to treat gases or odour molecules. PurAire Glass DBD bipolar ionisation introduces positive and negative ions into the air, providing active treatment beyond the device itself and helping reduce persistent odours and other selected airborne contaminants.

Different physics. Needlepoint (NPT) generated ions at the tip of a tiny electrode. Glass DBD generates them across the entire surface of a large glass dielectric barrier tube (often 320 – 520mm long) – a far larger emitting area, driven by a much more powerful transformer. We work with Glass DBD because in real deployments we found needlepoint systems underperformed what their datasheet promised.
No. PurAire bipolar ionisation is not designed to remove carbon dioxide. In occupied buildings, elevated CO₂ is primarily managed through adequate outdoor-air ventilation. Standard HEPA filters and bipolar ionisers do not remove CO₂, although specialised CO₂-sorbent systems can.
PurAire bipolar ionisation is designed to help reduce selected odours, VOCs, airborne particles and microorganisms — not carbon dioxide.
Usually, and quickly – tobacco, cooking, mould, and mustiness all respond quickly to our bipolar ionisation. But we’d want to look at the room first. If there is active water ingress or mould growth behind a wall, ionisation will reduce the smell without fixing the cause, and the smell comes back. We’ll tell you if that’s what we think is happening so the cause of your problem can be solved.
PurAire bipolar ionization has been proven very effective to help reduce persistent musty and mildew-related odours.
However, if active mold growth or a moisture problem is present, the source of the moisture and the mold itself should also be properly corrected.
