Bipolar Ioniser for Cassette and Split Aircons
The PurAire SG-Mini-5A is a compact Glass DBD bipolar ioniser designed for installation inside ceiling cassette and wall-mounted split air conditioners. It uses the aircon’s existing airflow to distribute ions through the room whenever the fan operates. It draws only 5 W, has no fan of its own, and leaves no additional equipment standing in the room.

In Singapore’s humidity, ceiling cassette and split aircon units hold onto odours. Damp and musty smells, mould and mildew related odours, tobacco, food, urine, VOCs from furnishings, pet odours, body odours. Housekeeping cleans the room properly and the smell is still there when the guest walks in.
The result is a room change request, a comment on the guest survey, or a room held out of inventory altogether — which is the expensive one.
Or worse, a customer or client taking one whiff of the air inside your guest room, store, office or meeting room and turning around and leaving.
Treating the room from inside the aircon deals with the air the unit is actually circulating thus continuously removing those odours.
What is the PurAire SG-Mini-5A?
The SG-Mini-5A is a compact bipolar ioniser designed specifically to fit inside a ceiling cassette or wall-mounted split air conditioner. It uses PurAire Glass DBD – dielectric barrier discharge – ionisation technology in a housing small enough to mount inside compatible aircon units. It draws just 5 watts, runs silently and can treat a room of up to 50 to 60 m².Â
The aircon’s own fan distributes the treated air into the room. There is no separate fan, no additional ducting and no visible room-side unit.
A built-in airflow switch means the ioniser operates when the aircon fan is running and stops when the fan stops.
Ionisation output is selectable so the installer can match the setting to the room and aircon configuration.
What Room Odours Can the SG-Mini-5A Help Reduce?
The SG-Mini-5A is primarily used to remove persistent room odours, including:
- Damp, musty and mildew-related odours
- Cigarette, cigar and tobacco odours

- Food and cooking smells from cheeses to durian

It also reduces airborne particulate matter such as PM2.5 and PM10 particles. Ions cause fine particles to clump together, which makes them heavy enough to fall out of the air or be caught by the aircon filter.
Note: If the odour is being caused by an active moisture leak, blocked drain, contaminated material or another continuing source, that source still needs to be corrected. Air treatment does not replace source control.
How Quickly Can The SG-Mini-5A Reduce Room Odours?
Generally, hours, not days. In a typical guest room with the air conditioning running, odours clear within a few hours of the unit being switched on.
How long depends on the room, how strong the source is, how much the air conditioning is running and what the odour has soaked into. Soft furnishings hold onto smells and take longer than the air does.

Built-In Airflow Switching and Adjustable Output
The SG-Mini-5A has a built-in airflow switch. When the aircon fan runs, the ioniser runs. When the fan stops, the ioniser stops.
This avoids unnecessary operating hours while the aircon is off and helps extend ion-tube service life and save energy. Because the airflow switch is built into this model, a separate airflow interlock is not normally required for this function.
Ionisation output is selectable, allowing the installer to choose an appropriate setting for the room and aircon configuration.
