Install bipolar ionisation discreetly inside your existing ceiling cassette or wall-mounted split aircon to help reduce musty and mildew-related odours, tobacco smoke, food smells, body odours and other persistent room odours.
PurAire SG-Mini ionisers use the air-conditioning system’s existing airflow to distribute positive and negative ions throughout the occupied space — without adding a visible appliance to the room.
If your cassette or split aircon develops a persistent musty smell even after servicing, installing bipolar ionisation inside the unit can provide continuous supplemental air treatment while the aircon operates.
The aircon already moves air throughout the room — so it is a logical place to introduce continuous air treatment.
Ceiling cassette and split air-conditioning systems continuously recirculate room air. Musty or mildew-related smells can originate within the air-conditioning system itself, while tobacco, food, body and other occupancy odours can persist elsewhere in the room.
Installing a PurAire bipolar ioniser inside the aircon uses the system’s existing airflow to carry positive and negative ions into the occupied space whenever the air-conditioning system operates.
The result is discreet, continuous air treatment without placing a separate portable or wall-mounted appliance in the room.
Send us your aircon model number, a photo of the unit and the room size. We’ll recommend the appropriate PurAire Mini model and installation location.
The SG-Mini-5A is specifically designed for installation inside existing ceiling cassette and wall-mounted split air-conditioning systems.
It uses the aircon’s own airflow to distribute bipolar ions into the room, helping reduce persistent musty and mildew-related odours, tobacco smoke, food smells, body odours and other everyday room odours.
A built-in airflow switch allows the ioniser to operate with the air-conditioning system, while three-level ionisation control allows output to be adjusted for the application.
Published specifications:
Compatible air volume: up to 1,200 m³/h
Application area: up to 60 m²
Power: 5 W
Noise: ≤10 dB
Estimated ionisation tube life: 17,000 hours
The SG-Mini-5H/V provides the same compact 80 mm ionisation tube in horizontal or vertical configurations for applications where installation orientation or available space within an FCU, duct or ventilation system requires greater flexibility.
It is primarily intended for FCU, HVAC and supply/discharge air applications rather than being the standard choice for a wall-mounted split aircon.
The SG-Mini-3 is the smallest-capacity model in this group, designed for compact air-conditioning and ventilation applications where installation space and room size are limited.
Its small footprint makes it suitable for smaller rooms and equipment where a larger ionisation module may not fit.
The SG-Mini-4 is a compact bipolar ionisation module designed for integration into small- to medium-sized air-conditioning equipment where installation space is limited.
With a published application area of up to 30 m² and compatible air volume up to 850 m³/h, it provides a compact option for smaller commercial rooms and air-conditioning systems.
Unlike the SG-Mini-5A, the current SG-Mini-4 specification does not include a built-in airflow switch
| Model | Published Application Area | Rated Adaptive Air Volume | Power | Key Difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SG-Mini-5A | Up to 60 m² | 1,200 m³/h | 5 W | Purpose-built cassette/split model + built-in airflow switch |
| SG-Mini-5H/V | Up to 60 m² | 1,200 m³/h | 5 W | Horizontal / Vertical FCU / HVAC Installation |
| SG-Mini-3 | About 20 m² | 510 m³/h | 4 W | Smallest Compact Module |
| SG-Mini-4 | Up to 40 m² | 850 m³/h | 5 W | Small / Medium Aircon Integration |
For most ceiling cassette or wall-mounted split aircon applications, the SG-Mini-5A is the purpose-built model. The SG-Mini-3 and Mini-4 provide compact alternatives for smaller systems, while the Mini-5H/V is intended primarily for FCU, duct and HVAC configurations where installation orientation matters.
Yes. Certain PurAire Mini models are designed for retrofit installation inside existing ceiling cassette air-conditioning systems, subject to available mounting space, electrical supply and airflow.
Yes. The PurAire SG-Mini-5A is designed for suitable ceiling cassette and wall-mounted split aircon installations. Compatibility should be confirmed for the specific aircon model before installation.
Bipolar ionisation can provide supplemental air treatment to help reduce persistent musty and mildew-related odours. If the aircon contains active mould, a contaminated coil, blocked drain or moisture problem, that underlying condition should also be cleaned and corrected.
The aircon already circulates air throughout the room. Installing the ioniser inside the system allows the existing airflow to distribute ions into the occupied space without adding a visible appliance or taking up floor or wall space.
No. Normal filter cleaning, coil maintenance, condensate-drain maintenance and correction of moisture problems remain necessary. Ionisation is supplemental air treatment.
